Do you mean let her sing from FUNNY GIRL or give a replacement a Tony?
I didn't think her last go 'round singing "Parade" was all that bad, it was just weird, knowing she was pushing rather obviously to get cast in the role. This time she has the part, is the toast of Broadway, seems to have injected new life and legs to a show that looked likely to sputter to a premature closing and brought a bit of star quality to the Rialto.
But maybe you mean giving a replacement a Tony. Larry Kert is the only actor to have received a replacement Tony- per the Tonys website- and I don't recall hearing any horror stories about that decision. (I got the impression even Dean Jones was supportive.) |
