It also has wonderful Hattie McDaniel singing and acting opposite Paul Robeson and the very under-rated Allan Jones as Gaylord. They do cut out "Why Do I Love You" I believe, though it's heard in some orchestra sections and add "I Have the Room Above Her" for Jones.

It's a wonderful film on the whole and great to see the originals of Charles Winninger as Cap'n Andy and Helen Morgan as Julie as well as the other originals. The part of Joe was written for Robeson, who while didn't do it on Broadway, did the premiere in London. Dunne had gotten a big break starring in the road company as Magnolia. It's not only her blackface which might shock folks, but also her weird movements when dancing to "Cant Help Lovin' Dat Man of Mine".

But as Alan said, it's an imperfect film, but there is much to enjoy and a lot of historical significance to it.
