Company did play a tryout run in Boston. Kert went on for Jones at least once in Boston and at least a few times before taking over on Broadway. I think he went on perhaps as many as 9 or 10 times before he took over. Jones's leaving was rumored in gossip columns before it happened.
But, yes, the fact that Company had played for 10 months with Kert by that time probably entered into the decision. |
