Thanks for expanding and clarifying my post above, AlanScott. If I gave the impression that I was saying musical revivals didn't exist between 1954 and 1970, I didn't mean to--only that they didn't exist in open-ended runs on Broadway at that time.

Regarding off-Broadway musical revivals of that time, there was also a Best Foot Forward revival in 1963 that had a pretty good run of 224 performances. I believe this was the show that introduced Liza Minnelli to the stage, and Christopher Walken and Paula Wayne were also in it.
