I always appreciate the reviews on TB. But I have to ask - where is the review here? It's mostly a plot summary/analysis, with a positive nod to the designers and production staff (and music director - thank you for that), but NOTHING about the actors' performances, except one short statement that they were "all committed to their roles and fascinating to watch and hear." But that's disproportionately miniscule compared to the plot summary and dramaturgical notes here. I would love to read an actual account of the performance and how the cast did. Yes, having a little bit of background on the show is good, especially with a piece most people won't know very well - but shouldn't a review's main focus really be on the performance? (That's not meant to be a rhetorical question - I think the vast majority of us would answer "yes.") |
