I understand how you feel (I had a similar thought), and I understand why others flinched. One thing unmentioned in the responses:
I don't know how the Schubert Organization thinks about it, but this theater has had exactly two hits in fifty years: SARAFINA (1989) and THE MAGIC SHOW (1974); and after fifty years I have to assume that's not an accident, that this theater is deliberately booking shows considered worthy but unlikely - they're treating it like an Off-Broadway nonprofit.
And maybe that's a good thing, given that commercial Off-Broadway is almost extinct? |
