| On a quick trip to London I saw ORLANDO and MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO. ORLANDO was quite entertaining, featuring a solid performance by Emma Corrin (Princess Diana in The Crown). I have never read the book and haven't seen the movie since its original release, but I liked the staging and enjoyed the show's strong message of courage and identity. Great performances all around. TOTORO was charming, very closely followed the anime movie. Featured lots of wonderful puppetry, clever and heartfelt. The music was lovely, literally the show would stop for the songs, but they provided emotion and texture. The show has been sold out for weeks and was a clear hit with the audience. I think it's headed to New York, it's well worth seeing, even if you are not familiar with the movie. |
