| When there was a discussion of Blackface in Vaudeville here a while back, there was a question of whether black performers ever performed in whiteface to impersonate white ethnicities. According to an historian of the film "Casablanca", Dooley Wilson who plays the pianist Sam in the movie who sings the famous "As Time Goes By" began his career in vaudeville and was famous for his whiteface impersonation of an Irishman which earned him the name Dooley! |
