I'm also very curious about this. There hasn't been an announcement of a new Artistic Director yet, and I wouldn't think there could be any progress in place until there is. Jenny Gersten only agreed to temporarily return as AD last year to get them through last summer's abbreviated season.
The theater operated successfully for so many decades, producing huge productions with free and low-paid young labor, it will take a complete change of course in their operations and budget to navigate the next steps that are presumably more in line with industry standards, even for summer theater. I only saw the Daniel Fish concert based on the songs of Most Happy Fella but I think the rest of the season was as low-tech as that production. I suspect they may need another year to figure what their mission will now be and how best to accomplish it. |
