Pictures from Home -- Today's Matinee
Posted by: stan 05:34 pm EST 01/28/23

We saw a play this afternoon called Pictures from Home with a 3 person cast, all Broadway Stars: Nathan Lane, Danny Burstein, and Zoe Wannamaker. It was a too true slice of life story adapted from a book by a famous photographer who documented his ordinary Jewish parents' retirement in LA in the 90's. More like a PBS documentary than a play but the cast was excellent and the familiar story was fairly well told. The audience liked it. It's in its third week of Previews. Curiously, it was previously listed with a running time of 2 hrs 20 minutes with an intermission. Today's matinee was a little over an hour and a half with no intermission, and it still had too much yak (and very little drama/comedy). But I'm familiar with the parents' problems and concerns and they were people I know and in many ways I am.
