She's had nearly a decade and this is at least her third production of this production (london - which may or may not have moved, making that one two chances, i can't recall - boston and nyc) to do that if she had any interest in that, or power, but 8 years at least while Sondheim was still alive to be convinced or approve or contribute to changes for this production...
I am baffled by anyone who thinks this version, let alone this production has "finally" made Merrily work, or fixed it, whatever else I've heard about this. Even as a production goes, several others have made a stronger go at and case for this version of the show. I don't get why this one is getting the praise. |
