to me it would cut the other way.
I think the conventional wisdom would be that a show that closed quickly in the fall term that had a snowball's chance in hell of winning anything would need to be a pretty overwhelming achievement in theatre that would find enough votes to win regardless. It is very much the exception. I think the motivation is that people who never saw, e.g., KPop, ought not be zapped from any category. (Probably also very much the exception.) I suspect we will find out a little more about the sources of the idea. |
