I disliked almost everything. I know that I am in the extreme minority, but I am astounded by all the raves. I see most Broadway shows and have a tendency to like most everything. I was very excited to see Kimberly Akimbo and made certain to purchase a ticket in the front Orchestra. I even assumed that I would be back to see it at least one or two more times. And then the lights dimmed and the show began. The storyline was insipid, and got worse. The score was instantly forgettable. Although the performances were fine, I never connected to Victoria's Kimberly, or any of the characters. Bonnie Milligan's character is the reason that I avoid Walmart. I wasn't thrilled with Act 1, but hated Act 2. I was hoping it would be more heart-felt like Fun Home. Full respect to those who love it. I'm staying away so you'll have more seats to choose from when you schedule a return visit. |
