Related to your topic, I've noticed that some of our theaters here in Chicago include a key to cast pronouns in their marketing and programs. Here is an example from Porchlight Music Theater. For context, It is a well respected theater here that does some very good work. Pronoun Key: + (he/him/his); * (she/her/hers); ^ (they, them, theirs); = (any with respect) As to does it help the LGBTQ community? I am not sure that is the goal. The LGBTQ community is far from united on this topic. LGBTQ is too big an umbrella term in my opinion. I am gay man and I do not consider myself part of the Queer community. I correct anyone who refers to me as queer. |
