| It also seems to me that when Mrs. Paroo has an Irish accent, that seems to age her as well. I assume she's meant to be a first-generation immigrant? Marian never has that accent, at least in productions I've seen and done. But singling Mrs. Paroo out in that way might be part of what makes her seem older. (She's also usually the only character to have a pronounced accent. And she says things like "crouch" instead of "crotch," which might make her seem a little more "old school.") |
