Peter Marks seems to not like the show. His biggest complaint is mine as well - the repetitive recitatives - although I like the show more than he does.
I saw it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it, even without a car onstage. (This was the third production I've seen.) Stephanie J. Block was strong-voiced and commanding in the lead, as was (to my surprise and delight) Derek Klena as Joe. Clever set design and the orchestra was great. |
