| It was wonderful to hear the score live, and the entire cast, not just Block but also Nathan Gunn and Derek Klena, were outstanding. But there were no real thrills. She's too light in Act I. I wanted a more noir performance, predatory and selfish, less sweet and likable. I think a problem with these limited-rehearsal short runs is that an actor doesn't really have enough time to explore and settle into the more complex dramatic roles. |
