It has more seats than some houses that go back and forth more often between plays and musicals. And it has only 60 or fewer seats than the Broadhurst, which has housed some pretty big musicals over the decades. So I would think medium-sized musicals can play there as well as at the O'Neill, Jacobs, Schoenfeld and some other theatres. Hell, they managed to squeeze the original Annie into the O'Neill for a brief time when no bigger theatres were available.
I wonder to what degree the unusual shape makes it seem like an undesirable theatre. It can't be the street as the slightly smaller O'Neill has not had comparable problems getting shows with clear commercial potential. |
