Don't know if it was discussed but there's been a big legal squabble over the rights for a long time between Warren Beatty and Tribune, who ran the strip.
Beatty won about ten years ago but while all that was going on, shoring up the rights would have been difficult, even if Beatty himself wanted to do it. |
