The thing I really, really wish they would say is, "Don't sing along." But that's a jukebox musical phenomenon, and I think the producers of jukebox musicals, to some extent, are looking for an audience that doesn't go to the theater very much.

I agree that people have become defiant about following rules that they find inconvenient for them, whether at the theater or elsewhere. There's a growing segment of the population that is not embarrassed at all by people calling out their behavior, and they will double down if you say something.

I also wish the pre-show announcement wouldn't make a joke about the candy wrapper thing. They don't explain why the wrapping needs to be done before the show starts. I was at a play recently where someone was crinkling something for a very long time (I think they were snacking on something out of a crinkly plastic bag). I thought the person in front of me was going to jump out of his chair and snatch it away.

One thing that seemed to drop off during the pandemic was cell phones going off. It still seems less than before but not by much.
