|Technically, Groff's voice was in ''Frozen 2,'' which opened to $127 million, one of the biggest openings for an animated movie.
Yes, Shyamalan's name is the key draw in ''Knock at the Cabin,'' but it's still a career coup for Groff. And in terms of LGBT representation, it's worth noting that Groff and Ben Aldridge are two openly gay actors playing a gay couple in a major movie. When he came out about 15 years ago, Groff told Collider.com that he recalled putting aside his Hollywood dreams because it didn't seem possible. Gay marriage wasn't even legal then. Groff says: ''And now I'm in a M. Night [Shyamalan] movie where a gay married couple is the central family, the love story of the movie, at the heart of the [film]. ... We feel insanely, insanely lucky to be the age we are now, in the time we are now, riding this wave of progress. It's extraordinary.''
Below, Groff chats about taking ''Cabin's'' child star, Kristen Cui, to see ''Wicked,'' and being eager to return to ''Merrily We Roll Along'' in the fall.
