Moore and Gaxton certainly had the magic touch on Broadway, costarring in classic hit after hit. However, Gaxton did not come across all that well in the films I've seen him in. The two movies are Best Foot Forward, in which he plays Lucille Ball's fast talking manager, and Diamond Horseshoe, a Betty Grable musical in which he plays Dick Haymes' father. He was already in his 50's in both, much too old to be the suave leading man he portrayed on stage. |
