Speaking of the 'hall' and the 'general vibe', I wonder if Dudamel has sat with an audience in the new hall. The acoustics are no improvement, and in some of the locations where I've sat, decidedly worse. The vibe is shopping mall/airport lounge. Whose idea was it to have lights left on during concerts, shining in people's faces in the first and second tiers? And what's with the pop and soft jazz muzak in the bathrooms at intermissions. I've enjoyed Dudamel's conducting with the Philharmonic in the old hall. Maybe it'll take someone new coming in to acknowledge and fix the problems with the new one. |
