I agree with ryhog as well. Seeing a show at home on TV is a very different experience from seeing it live. It becomes something other than theater which can only happen in … well… a theater. That said, I do appreciate the opportunities the National Theatre provides to view shows in movie theaters and streaming at home. I get to London only every few years, and being able to see some wonderful performances and productions is a gift. But I would much rather see these shows live if the opportunity presented itself ( and, in some cases, I have, as in the case of Lehman Trilogy and One Man Two Governors which I saw on screen, then eagerly anticipated their NY runs.) |
