ryhog, thank you for the expanded explanation. I agree with you completely that watching something on a screen is a poor substitute for being in the same room as the actors during a live performance, although my personal opinion (which you might not share) is that watching a truly live version on the computer, when the home watcher is watching in real time, is not that far off as compared to watching a stitched-together version from several different performances, as was true for Hamilton.

My thoughts about your second point, that it may be financially unwise for commercial producers, is complicated. My understanding is that the filmed version of Legally Blonde on MTV improved the box office. But Legally Blonde was struggling before the MTV version. For Hamilton, the filmed version made a hot ticket accessible to everyone who had $10 for Disney+, and that is a different scenario.
