Wow. Joan and Evan gave me my Equity Card. They gave a lot of people their Equity Cards...
This was in the late 90s, but we did a show they'd been doing for so long, the orchestra tracks were still on a reel-to-reel, which we schlepped around with us!
Joan was an absolute delight to tour with, always enthusiastic and full of wildly entertaining stories. And she could rattle off the names of every now-famous person who had once worn my costumes. Which I thought was one of her ways of encouraging a young actor.
I always remember the entire family fondly. To this day, I think of them as a reminder that it is indeed possible to make a living - and more importantly, live a good life - in the theatre. |
