The Broadway Theatre's history of renovation precedes its use as a legitimate theatre. In 1940, it hosted the world premiere of Walt Disney's FANTASIA and featured Fantasound, the first attempt at stereophonic sound in a commercial film. In 1952, it was the first theatre to present THIS IS CINERAMA, using three projectors to fill a giant curved screen.
