As the editor, I'll just say that I believe all of our reviewers see shows as soon as they can. And I think the majority of reviews are posted in the first week after opening.
You've been given a lot of general information already and it applies to all. I'll add (or repeat) that in regions, press night is often opening night - reviewers can't see the show earlier; if a reviewer can't see what can be a single press night, they have to reschedule later and are dependent on availability; regional runs are often short and press/opening is sometimes toward the end, not the beginning, of the run; most reviewers have day jobs and, as mentioned, are unpaid volunteers (as am I) - we do what we can, but sometimes life takes precedence. |
