They were discovered and championed by Walt Disney himself. "The Boys" as they were called, were employed by the Disney company almost as house composers. They left the company following Walt's death in 1966. One of their earliest--if not first--freelance gigs was "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." With their songs, and starring Dick Van Dyke, lots of people believe it's a Disney film, but it isn't.
