If you think that plot's bad, how about the utterly preposterous premises of Love Never Dies!
Audiences usually sniff out a false foundation, and no amount of musical panache or scenic spectacle can quite overcome it.
(Which is why I think CATS actually did work - the notion was bizarre, but the underlying Mary Magdalene/ pride versus humility theme was resonant.) |
