It's hard to believe that the Herman estate wouldn't be funding a cast recording of this production if they were interested in one. I imagine that whomever controls the estate probably looked at the material and came to the conclusion that the liklihood of future productions of DEAR WORLD is slim, even if this production did yield a recording. And it's unlikely that the album itself would sell any more than a few hundred copies to musical theatre diehards and completists, so it's not going to be a profit center either. So with the odds of no additional income from this title either in future productions or album sales, why pay to record it?

If, by some chance, this production or any future production went to Broadway, the producers of that production would likely foot the bill for a recording. In the meantime, as you say, there's no better representation of the score than the original recording.
