I think revivals of Bye Bye Birdie have included the title song written for the film.
"From This Moment On" was shoehorned into the 1999 revival of Kiss Me, Kate, though it was given to Lili and (the re-invented General) Harrison Howell in a way that really doesn't make a case for the inclusion of the song. (I think it much better suits the Lucentio/Bianca story as done in the film.)
"Beautiful City," written for the film of Godspell, is now a permanent part of the score (albeit with new lyrics and a different arrangement).
Though this is not from a "successful" movie version lol - the 1995 London revival of A Little Night Music (starring Judi Dench) created a new hybrid version of "The Glamorous Life" which incorporated a good deal of Fredrika's solo version of the song written for the film. Sondheim was not particularly happy with the result. |
