John Kander will celebrate his 96th birthday on Saturday, March 18, only days before ''New York, New York'' begins previews at the St. James.
It will be his 16th original Broadway musical, and he'll make history as being the oldest composer to open a new musical on Broadway.
To quote his legendary lyricist, Fred Ebb, here's wishing Kander another hit show: ''It's up to you, 'New York, New York'!'' |
