I'm so happy that Peter Foley's songs will live on through this concert, with its illustrious cast, and I hope there's a CD that'll be recorded.

On a personal note, I befriended Peter many years ago when he was only a Berkeley high school student who dreamed of writing for Broadway. We bonded over our mutual love of Stephen Sondheim's shows, and both wrote to him. We met in NYC for ''Follies in Concert'' (and wound up sitting in front of Hal Prince!), and went to the 1987 opening of ''Into the Woods'' and then crashed the opening night party where we said hi to Steve.
Though Peter left us far too soon, my memories of his friendship and his lovely lyrics and music will last me a lifetime. |
