While I liked much of the show and more or less went on a whim, I thought the inexplicably poor parts were (most) moments of speaking/acting - and - the entire AMERICA stretch in Act II. Is that section contractually mandated to do the show? It really seems like not a single person (designer, performer, director, choreographer) seemed to want to propel that moment into anything worthwhile. It's an extremely dated moment of the show ... we don't really do unvarnished and masturbatory patriotism these days. |
