| I respect your review, Sergius, but I thought the supporting cast and ensemble were better than you give them credit for. (“What surrounds her isn’t on her level,” you wrote.) Inarguably a flawed and silly show based on flawed and silly source material, but a beautiful score, in my opinion, well served by the Encores orchestra. So glad that Encores did this, and very grateful to have seen it in what may well be the best-possible presentation of this material. |
