I have never heard of a court battle over the material, at least not that I recall. Authors own what they write. I don't think anyone could have stopped Herman, Lawrence and Lee from making available whatever they wanted to make available. Was it cut material that was supposedly court-ordered to be locked up? Or perhaps the orchestrations, which I think perhaps would have been owned by the production, not the authors?
On Facebook, I just read about a high school production in the early 1980s. So the show was available for production. |
