| I’m certainly no authority on the authurian legends but it just violates basic playwriting- by this time in act two the cows are coming home to roost- keep the focus on the story. I did like the way Sorkin handled the last scene between A and J a lot. What came before feels like a distraction. But the biggest issue is that in making Arthur a more age and intellect appropriate match for Jenny we need to see him be the choice between reason and Lance passion. Right now Lance is just a righteous bore. And his “magical” devotion powers are no longer part of the story (reviving Arthur is explained away as just knocked out- not bringing back from dead) so J has no real “moment” of being touched by his faith. So- sigh- it’s a problem. Still fixable- if they have the will! Sher was standing at the exit when I left- so tempted - hahaha |
