Down the thread, someone writes that Natalie Wood was trying to sell the studio on Judy Garland as Rose and I think that would have been fascinating.
I wonder if Merman could have worked in the film. I think she's perfectly fine in CALL ME MADAM and THERE'S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS. Maybe with proper direction, she could scale her performance to the camera and make it work. |
