I saw it on Broadway so many years ago
Despite Eartha and a wonderful score this was one of my worst experiences in theater going !
In fact i was witness to a physical brawl erupting during the curtain call : an unhappy audience member booed and someone else took umbrage at thus slight and fists were thrown
Of course in the early days of New York State Lincoln Center there was a short revival with Alfred Drake in his original role. That same season gave us Ethel Merman recreating Annie Get Your Gun which some retitled Grannie get your gun |
