| Well, luckily for him, we have productions of both currently running. I imagine, if his team reached out to the producers of either or both, a deal would be made so fast that heads would spin. If they truely are dream roles, they are dreams that are easily within his grasp. |

| Interestingly, Taron Egerton (who graduated from RADA) won the STEPHEN SONDHEIM SOCIETY'S "STUDENT PERFORMER OF THE YEAR" in 2011 in London. He sang "Giants in the Sky" from Into The Woods. |

| I'm not one of those pedants who gets hung up on an actor's actual age. It's how they 'read' on stage that matters. After all, Len Cariou's roles in A Little Night Music and Sweeney Todd probably wouldn't be right for the average 30-something actor today, but he was a perfect fit. I think Taron reads his age (33) or even younger. He feels at least a decade too young for Sweeney, but I've also never seen him on stage, so I could be completely wrong. He's a good actor and I think you're right, if someone as big as he is had a genuine interest in Sweeney, I would imagine producers would be thrilled to see if he's a fit. | |

| The thought of Taron taking over in February 2024 is exciting. A limited run would carry the show into summer of ‘24. | |

| I have tickets to sew Josh Groban in October, but I would definitely come back to see Taron in the role. |

| Taron has talked about wanting to play Sweeney before. Here’s what he said in an interview from August 2022: “At the moment I’m too young and not gruff enough, but I probably could do it at 40,” he said. “No one’s going to buy me as Sweeney just yet. I need to have accrued enough years to be that jaded and embittered.” I don’t think his youthfulness is an issue with this production, though, given how young Josh Groban reads himself. And, yes, Taron is a terrific actor. He was wonderful in a singing and acting role as Elton John in “Rocketman” and in the recent Apple TV + miniseries “Blackbird.” Whether his considerable vocal chops can rise up to the demands of Sweeney remains to be seen, but I have a feeling he is more than up to the challenge. P.S. Don’t know why clicking on the link to the article is giving me an error message when I have no problem accessing it by Googling “taron egerton sweeney todd.” |
