Could it possibly be that Grey was joking; that Fosse so didn't want HIM, he'd even consider Ruth Gordon? OR that Fosse himself did say it, but, again, as a joke?
IF there is any truth to this, a couple other people who might know are Kander or even Nicole Fosse.
