Regrettably, the Birds Are is for the birds. It is painfully loud and strange with actors at one point waving birds on sticks. Poor Kristine Nielsen! She certainly could play this ditzy mother in her sleep but it is painful to see such an actress stuck in such a soporific play. The playwright's notes in the playbill were more interesting than the play itself. Visitors to New York have so many other good plays to choose from.
