| It’s a crazy idea, but at the same time, the set is built, the show is rehearsed, the tech would be relatively simple, and they wouldn’t need to do too many previews to adjust it to the new space. So it could be done. |

| My expectations were low, both friends and critics were lukewarm, but I enjoyed it a lot. A little heavy-handed at times but a must-see. | |

| One more show that will lose $6-7 million (or $3-4 million if they get the tax credit) It's really worthy, but not a great play, and very long. Not quite sure who the 7000 people a week who will pay $130 to see this for 18 weeks are. But not my money. M |

| A Doll's House is the only play revival currently that will be running during Tony season, and that category is pretty open. Leading Actor in a Play is wide open. So the show may get some Tonys attention, but I agree with NewtonUK that I'm not sure it's will set the box office on fire. | |

| Whether its running or not doesnt make any difference tho. We've already had DEATH OF A SALESMAN, and PIANO LESSON and TOP DOG/UNDERDOG, along with A DOLLS HOUSE. A pretty crowded field. | |

| While technically it doesn't, I think most people will acknowledge that, in the flawed Tony Award system, for all practical purposes, it does. First, A DOLLS HOUSE will likely be the revival that voters saw most recently and, thus, will have the clearest memory of, which gives it an advantage, if the voter liked it. Second, I think there's a school of thought on Broadway amongst some voters that it doesn't really make sense to give awards to productions that have already closed. Those shows aren't going to be able to sell a single ticket on the back of winning anything. They're done and gone. Productions that are running have that advantage over productions that have closed. | |

| I think it is less true of plays than musicals that voters feel the need to award still running shows. On Follies day, however, I will mention, as I have before, that I think one reason why Two Gentlemen won is because any voter who read Variety knew Follies would soon be closing. So even though it was still running, that knowledge may have affected at least a few votes, and that may have been all that was necessary. But when it comes to plays, so often few of the nominated plays both among revivals and new plays, are still running. And the prevalence in recent times of genuinely limited runs for plays has also affected things. |

| "Those shows aren't going to be able to sell a single ticket on the back of winning anything." While true, this only matters to those who stand to gain by ticket sales for something else. That is a pretty small subset within Tony voters. And with these star-driven vehicles, there is not really much chance that the road voters are going to be of any help. Moreover, this falls in that category of shows that is being produced on Broadway because some people think it should be. |

| One doesn't have to go back further than last year When Simon Russell Beale won the Tony (even competing against the rest of his cast but not splitting the vote) won over David Threllfall of "Hangmen," still running when the voting closed and in need of support. In 2019 Bryan Cranston of the closed "Network" won over Jeff Daniels(who was generally favored) of the running To Kill a Mockingbird. Elaine may that year of the closed "The Waverly Gallery" won over Heidi Schreck of "What the Constitution means to Me." There are many other examples. | |

| All conjecture, of course, but I wouldn't say that Daniels was favored over Cranston. 2019's Drama Desk Award, which might have been an indicator, went to Jay O. Sanders. Also, "Network" closed just before the Tony Awards were held, so the voters all had more than enough time to see it. I don't know if its having closed serves your point as clearly as the other two examples you cite. | |

| And yet most experts would agree with JereNYC that productions that are still running often have the advantage in the Best Play, Best Musical, and Best Revival categories at the Tony Awards. Whether or not a show is still running makes less of a difference when it comes to the acting and design awards. | |
