It is doubtful that critics will be invited. Almost all of the major and minor critics reviewed it at BAM. Perhaps the Tony nominators will be invited right after the show opens on Bway.

Perhaps? No other reason for this race to open other than making the Tony Award a race between Oscar Isaac and Stanley McKinley Henderson. I do not know that the production itself would be a strong contender for Best Revival but will likely merit a nomination. Similarly I don't think Rachel Brosnahan will win a Tony but could also be nominated. Ditto Miriam Silverman.

Do you mean Stephen McKinley Henderson

From between riverside and crazy? I had to look up what play this person was in and couldn’t with the wrong name.

And fat ham, good night Oscar, piano lesson, life of pi and topdog all have strong male leads in a play.

I did. Thanks for catching that. I also know the other plays have strong male leads (especially Piano Lesson) I just consider those two Isaac and Henderson to be the frontrunners.

Yes, another contender. I had to look up what play he was in. If they aren’t a Hollywood name and I didn’t see the play, then I really don’t know what show the person is in. I doubt that I’m alone in this issue. Is it that hard to add the acronym of the play?

Assuming the acting/direction are what they want them to be, it's all about sound and lights, which have to be fine-tuned for the new venue. Difficult but not impossible.

I was also wondering about this. One of the preview days is a Wednesday, and I don't know if they are doing 2 previews or 3 previews. I know a very short preview period was common at one point (Hello Dolly had 2 previews), but that was decades ago. The Normal Heart was another show racing to meet the Tony deadline, and it still had its first preview 8 days before opening (with 10 preview performances).

Interesting that their two-performance days are 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Wednesday (Thursday the first week) and Saturday. Leopoldstadt, also a long play, does 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

Also interesting that opening night is on a two-show day. So that's 5.5 hours of show plus a party starting at 10pm. Long day.
