| Howard Miller takes a look at Shucked at the Nederlander Theatre: Quick. Cue the rim shot! "Do you know what your momma would say if she were alive right now?" Answer: "Get me out of this box!" Ba-dum-bum-CHING! You like that one? How about this: "Like the lazy dentist said, 'brace yourself.'" Brace yourself, indeed, and welcome to Shucked, the new musical opening tonight at the Nederlander Theatre in a cornucopia of corn-fed corny jokes. True, it is unlikely to draw the Sweeney Todd or Parade crowd, but danged if this one doesn't have enough quirky charm so that it might very well become the sleeper hit of the season. |
