| Does Colbert have a stake in this show or something? | |

| Kinda strange to me that he would devote so much time to this. I rushed and saw it last weekend and while it wasn't "bad" per se, I would describe it as thoroughly mediocre. Just over the top in a way that isn't pleasurable but more along the lines of "beats you into submission." Just a busy, jumbled mess that desperately needs editing. It'll make it through the summer but probably not much longer after that. Also, I know he does so much for the community but Lin-Manuel has become exhausting. Just my opinion, of course. ;) |

| Colbert's always been a theater lover. As a young man, he went to Northwestern and originally studied to be a dramatic actor. Colbert's plugged many Broadway shows on his program. (And he played Harry in the 2011 ''Company'' concert version at Avery Fisher.) And he booked his hero, Stephen Sondheim, on his ''Late Show'' for what would be only a couple of months before his passing at age 91. Regardless of whether ''New York, New York'' is good or not, I'd applaud Colbert for recognizing John Kander, at 96, for his new musical. Kander's Broadway legacy and his desire to keeping working, especially in his 90s, deserve the airtime and respect he's rightfully getting. |

| ... I really appreciated the way both Colbert and LMM gave Kander the space and time to articulate his thoughts without trying to rush him or talk over him as many other talk show hosts would have. And how sharp, smart and Funny Kander remains at 96! What a talent and so great to see him thriving and making new work at this stage. I haven't seen NY, NY. I probably will at some point. And, truthfully, I'll be going in with low expectations, but, still, this was a lovely moment, agreed. | |

| It was kind of interesting that after having on Kander and Miranda talking about their collaboration, that when a (great) number is performed, it's one by Kander and Ebb! | |

| Lin Manuel is a multi media superstar, and he has been on Colbert frequently. John Kander never has - and he is a major Broadway superstar, and he's 96. This seems like an easy call for his talent booker. And it was a brilliant interview. | |
