| Warning. This is my own opinion! The lead producer of Kimberly Akimbo is breathing a bit more gently now, now that Shucked will get nominated but never win Best Musical thanks to that Times pan. Stone has to wait for one more show to open. The producers of New York, New York are pulling out all the stops to get placed at the top of the heap. The New York Times and Colbert are certainly pulling for the show. Personally, I don't believe it is better than Kimberly Akimbo. Well, not for Best Musical. The choreo and set is great over at Al's theater. But that's about it. If I were David Stone (I should be so damn lucky)...I would be heavily invested in meditation and alcohol. Wishing him and his show the final win! | |

| While Peter may very well have expressed that sentiment, it was earlier expressed by Richard Rodgers. | |

| I’d make that pen-pusher Stine get back to his typewriter to pound out another novel, and stop wasting time with Buddy Fidler. Laura in LA |

| I would not think Shucked is in any way guaranteed a nomination. I think that the likely nominees at this point are: Kimberly Akimbo, Some Like It Hot; &Juliet and New York, New York! i do think that Alex Newell and Best score will get nods for Shucked and Newell will be in the Best Dupporting Actor category thereby not putting them in competition with J Harrison Ghee. Wouldn't it be something if both Actor categories go to gender fluid performers? I think both though face strong competition. Kimberly Akimbo remains a favorite for Best Musical i yhink depending on what voters think of New York, New York. | |

| J. Harrison Ghee will be considered in he Leading Actor category, according to the first round of eligibility rulings, so Ghee and Newell will not compete in the same category. | |

| You're probably right about "Kimberly Akimbo" but I would not characterize that NYT review as a "pan." Mixed, maybe mixed-to-negative seems closer to the mark, given how many things he thought were great (Newell) or pretty good. | |

| Don't rule out A Beautiful Noise which has the most potential on the road, just like Jersey Boys. | |

|
| Before all those Tony members from the road get to vote, a show needs to make the cut, and it is doubtful the Tony nominators are going to nominate A Beautiful Noise for best musical. | |

| the road vote doesn't really count for much unless it is a close call and this one it is not gonna account for much. | |

| Would never discount that and especially for best music and lyrics since it does contain the iconic though ineligible title song. Yes you are not voting for that song but really can you get it out of your head? And how better to honor the team that wrote it? (along with Lin-Manuel Miranda who made Broadway cool again, not singlehandedly) | |
