| The headline said FOX News as a whole “panicked” when ONE person made a stupid joke is all. I personally think the proposed changes lyric changes are ridiculous. In “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” Ursula is basically the devil trying to manipulate a vulnerable Ariel. Why on earth should the lyrics be more sensitive? Ursula is a bad guy. It should be “offensive.” Then, in “Kiss the Girl,”. Ariel CAN’T SPEAK so Sebastian is begging Eric to kiss Ariel so that Ursula doesn’t have her soul forever. He’s not in favor of romantic assault. He’s trying to save her life. Howard Ashman knew exactly what he was doing and none of it is offensive IMHO. |
