Billington's review was just about the only completely positive one. Most were at least mixed-to-negative. Here's Henry Hitchings in the Standard:

I also saw some two-star reviews, but most seemed comfortably three stars. In other words, mixed reviews, rather than “it didn’t work at any level.” (I did not see it and cannot weigh in anecdotally.)
